Crypto infrastructure in Kosovo is lopsided. More than a third of all physical points sit in and around Pristina, while Gjakova and Mitrovica, two towns of more than 60,000 people each, have no confirmed ATM at all. This page shows what each city really has, and where to go when the answer is “nothing”.

Where Kosovo’s crypto points cluster

On 20 October 2026 we confirmed 8 and 18 walk-in offices. They belong to just two operators. exCoins runs 13 offices and 5 ATMs; CoinPrime runs 5 offices and 3 ATMs. ATMs exist in only five cities (Pristina, Ferizaj, Gjilan, Prizren and Peja), and most stand at HIB Petrol fuel stations, so they are reachable at night and at weekends.

Pristina leads by a distance: three ATMs and three offices in the city, plus two offices in Fushë Kosovë and one each in Lipjan and Podujevë. Ferizaj has fewer points, but it is home to CoinPrime, the only crypto operator licensed by the CBK (Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo) as of the 15 October 2026 list. Gjilan is the one city where the only ATM belongs to the licensed operator. In the west, Prizren and Peja have one exCoins ATM each, while Gjakova and Mitrovica have a single office apiece.

City by city: ATMs, offices and the nearest fallback

The table counts points inside each town only, not the wider region. The licence column shows whether CoinPrime, the CBK-licensed operator, has a point there. exCoins does not appear on the CBK list of 15 October 2026.

Set against the 2024 census, the gaps look starker. Prizren, with 147,246 residents, has the same single ATM as Peja with 82,745. Gjakova (78,699) and South Mitrovica (64,742) have none, while Gjilan (82,980) relies on one CoinPrime machine.

How to read the numbers on the map

The map is split into Kosovo’s seven regions, not its 38 municipalities. That is why the “Pristina” region shows more offices than the table: it adds Fushë Kosovë, Lipjan and Podujevë, for seven offices in total. “Gjilan” includes the Kamenica office, and “Mitrovica” includes Vushtrri, where we found nothing. Suharekë sits in the Prizren region but has neither an office nor an ATM.

If you compare with Coin ATM Radar, the best-known global directory, you will see roughly 17–18 points for Kosovo, eight of them in Pristina. The gap comes from counting rules. Coin ATM Radar includes and a few listings we could not match to an operator’s own site, such as a second ATM in Gjilan. We count only what exCoins and CoinPrime publish. In Mitrovica, for example, Coin ATM Radar shows one point, which on our evidence is very likely the office rather than a machine.

When your town has no crypto ATM

No machine does not mean no crypto. In Gjakova and Mitrovica you can still buy with cash at the office, Monday to Saturday, and it is usually cheaper: the exCoins website converter shows a 2% commission, while Coin ATM Radar lists exCoins ATMs at about 4.8% . You really need an ATM only at night, on a Sunday, or when you want to sell and the office is shut.

From Gjakova, the closest machines are the HIB Petrol ATMs in Prizren and Peja; the Prizren one also buys back BTC, ETH, LTC and USDT. From Mitrovica, Pristina is the obvious trip. Residents of Kamenica, Podujevë or Lipjan have a local exCoins office for buying and selling, but need Gjilan or Pristina for an ATM. Our guide to Kosovo’s smaller towns covers them one by one.

The third route ignores geography altogether. A Kosovo-issued bank card or a SWIFT transfer in euros puts crypto straight into an online account; the full walkthrough is in how to buy Bitcoin in Kosovo, step by step.

What lies across the border

For a few towns the nearest alternative is abroad. From Ferizaj, through the Hani i Elezit crossing, Skopje has a Bitomat machine in East Gate Mall, about 90 km from Pristina, open 10:00–22:00 with an ID scan. In Albania, reached from Prizren via Vërmica and from Gjakova via Qafa e Prushit, Coin ATM Radar shows no confirmed ATM. In Montenegro, beyond the Kulla crossing from Peja, there is a single listing in Tivat with unconfirmed details. In Serbia, ECD has points in Belgrade and Novi Sad but requires a verified ECD account, and Serbia does not recognise Kosovo crossings as an international entry point for foreigners.

For most people, a cross-border trip just to use a crypto machine is not worth it. The city pages go into this only where it is practical, as on the Ferizaj page for Skopje.

Rules that are the same in every city

Wherever you buy, the CBK regulation on crypto-asset operators, in force since 29 November 2025, sets two practical limits. Any transaction of €1,000 or more requires ID. Amounts above €1,000, or linked transactions that add up to more within 24 hours, can no longer be paid in cash and must go through a bank account. CoinPrime goes further: it asks for even on small amounts and caps cash at €1,000 per 24 hours across its ATMs and offices combined.

Selling for cash is harder than buying. Some ATMs have no sell function, or it is unconfirmed, as in Peja. Before you set off, read how to sell crypto for cash in Kosovo. The national lists with every machine and every office are on Bitcoin ATMs in Kosovo and crypto exchange offices.

Frequently asked questions

Which city in Kosovo has the most Bitcoin ATMs?

Pristina, with three: two run by exCoins (Maxi 24 on Rruga B and the HIB Petrol Kalabri station near the bus station) and one by CoinPrime, also on Rruga B. The full rundown is on our Pristina crypto page.

Is there a crypto ATM in Gjakova or Mitrovica?

Not as of 20 October 2026. Gjakova has one exCoins office on Skënderbeu street and South Mitrovica has one on Shemsi Ahmeti street. An ATM announced for Gjakova in 2024 could not be confirmed. See Gjakova and Mitrovica.

Where is Kosovo’s only licensed crypto operator based?

CoinPrime SH.P.K. is registered on Vëllezërit Gërvalla street in Ferizaj. It is the only crypto operator on the Central Bank’s list of 15 October 2026, with offices in Pristina, Gjilan, Prizren and Fushë Kosovë too. Details on the Ferizaj page.

Why does Coin ATM Radar show more machines than your map?

Coin ATM Radar lists around 17–18 points for Kosovo because it counts “tellers” (shops that sell crypto over the counter) and some listings we could not confirm. Our map only counts points that exCoins and CoinPrime publish themselves.

Can I buy crypto in person in Kosovo on a Sunday?

Only at an ATM. Every exCoins and CoinPrime office works Monday to Saturday. The ATMs run 24/7, and buying online works any day.
