Bitcoin in Peja: one ATM, one office and a few fallbacks

An ATM at HIB Petrol on Zahir Pajaziti street and an exCoins office on Bill Clinton street. Buying is easy; for selling, you need to know which point definitely does it, and where to go after dark.

Peja has enough to buy crypto with cash any day of the week, but fewer options than Prizren when you want to sell. Neither of its two points belongs to the operator licensed by the CBK (Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo), and the ATM’s sell function is unconfirmed. Here is what the town has, and where the backups are.

The crypto ATM at HIB Petrol, Zahir Pajaziti street

Buy only (selling unconfirmed)

The exCoins machine stands at the HIB Petrol fuel station on Zahir Pajaziti street and runs through the night. It sells four coins: BTC, ETH, LTC and USDT. As with other exCoins machines, Coin ATM Radar lists no verification up to €500, a phone number from €500 to €1,000 and an ID document above €1,000. Coin ATM Radar counts one point in Peja, which matches this machine.

The weak spot is selling. The exCoins machines in Pristina, Ferizaj and Prizren are , but for the Peja machine we found no confirmation that it buys crypto from customers. If you need to sell, do not set off at night hoping it will work. Check the screen: if no sell option appears, there isn’t one.

Buy and sell (BTC, ETH, USDT, XRP, TRX, LTC)

The Bill Clinton street office is Peja’s only crypto office. It opens Monday to Saturday, 09:00–18:00, and handles six coins (BTC, ETH, USDT, XRP, TRX and LTC) both ways. The exCoins website converter shows a 2% commission, less than half of what you typically pay at an ATM. exCoins is not on the CBK list of 15 October 2026.

This is also where you can sell USDT for euros in Peja. Keep the CBK rules for operators in mind: ID from €1,000, and amounts above €1,000 should be paid into a bank account rather than in cash. For walk-in offices across the country, see crypto exchange offices in Kosovo.

The gap between office and machine adds up. On €300 of USDT, 2% at the office is about €6, while the roughly 4.8% ATM markup listed by Coin ATM Radar comes to about €14, plus the fixed fee. If it can wait, wait for the office to open in the morning; the ATM earns its keep when you need crypto right away, at night or on a Sunday.

Selling from Peja: three routes

Because selling at the local ATM is unconfirmed, your route depends on the time and the amount.

  1. Daytime, up to €1,000: the Bill Clinton street office

The most direct route. Euros in hand for any of the six coins, at about 2% per the exCoins converter.

  2. Night or Sunday: the HIB Petrol 2 ATM in Prizren

The nearest machine with a confirmed sell function, and the only one in Kosovo that buys USDT. Coin ATM Radar puts the cost at about 5.2%. Details on crypto in Prizren.

  3. Above €1,000: an online platform and your bank

Sell on a platform and withdraw to your account; from international exchanges, euros arrive by SWIFT. The full comparison is on selling crypto for cash in Kosovo.

If you would rather deal with a CBK-licensed operator, the nearest is CoinPrime’s office on Rruga Tirana in Prizren. It asks for ID on every amount, caps cash at €1,000 per 24 hours and pays larger sales by bank transfer at 1% commission. For Peja residents that means a trip, so it mainly makes sense for bigger sums.

Rugova, visitors and paying in cash

Peja is one of Kosovo’s main tourist towns: the Rugova gorge, the mountain trails and the town centre draw visitors from the diaspora and further afield. For them, the first question is not where to buy Bitcoin but how to pay. The answer is simple: in euros. Since 1 February 2024 the euro has been the only currency allowed for cash payments in Kosovo, and we found no hotel, restaurant or tour operator in Peja that accepts crypto in a way we could confirm.

If you are a visitor holding crypto, the simplest route to euros is the Bill Clinton street office in the daytime. With a foreign bank card you can also use ordinary bank cash machines; ProCredit, for example, charges €5 for foreign cards at its own machines, according to its August 2026 price list. Before you arrive, read crypto scams in Kosovo: meeting strangers to swap crypto for cash is the main local risk, as the Ferizaj case of April 2026 showed, when three buyers lost €12,000.

Across the Kulla crossing: Montenegro has no registered providers

The Kulla crossing links Peja with Rožaje in Montenegro, through the Rugova valley. On the other side, the crypto market is far thinner. Montenegro has run a registration regime for crypto providers under its law since March 2025, but as of February 2026 no provider had registered. Coin ATM Radar shows a single listing, in Tivat, with details we could not confirm.

In practice, for someone coming from Rožaje, the HIB Petrol machine in Peja is the nearest confirmed point for buying. CBK rules apply to foreigners too: ID from €1,000 and no cash above that amount.

Pi Network and social-media shops: what the registers say

Two things come up in searches for crypto in Peja that confuse many people. First, the Kosovo Business Registration Agency () lists a company called “PI NETWORK KOSOVA SH.P.K.”, registered in Peja in 2023. A registry entry only shows that a company legally exists; it is not a central bank licence and tells us nothing about any link to the Pi Network project. No physical point in Peja buys or sells Pi.

Second, social-media pages such as “Crypto Tresor” offer exchange services in Pristina and Peja. They are not on the CBK list and we could not verify them. In Peja, the confirmed points are just two: the HIB Petrol ATM and the Bill Clinton street office. For anyone else, the quickest check is the list of licensed institutions on the CBK website: if the name is not there, a business-registry entry or a polished Facebook page is no substitute for a licence. For neighbouring Gjakova, which has a single office, see crypto in Gjakova.
