Prizren’s crypto ATM buys back USDT too
One 24/7 machine at HIB Petrol 2 on the Therandë road and two offices in town, one of them run by the CBK-licensed operator. Where to buy, where to sell, and what changes when the diaspora arrives in August.

Prizren is Kosovo’s second-largest municipality, with 147,246 residents in the 2024 census, yet it has just one crypto ATM. The upside is that this machine does more than any other in the country: it buys back not only Bitcoin but Ethereum, Litecoin and USDT. Two offices in town cover the rest, six days a week.
The ATM at HIB Petrol 2, on the road to Therandë
The exCoins machine stands at the HIB Petrol 2 fuel station on Ukë Bytyqi street, on the Prizren–Therandë road that Suharekë residents use every day (Therandë is the town’s older name). Coin ATM Radar dates its installation to 24 February 2024. Unlike the two exCoins machines in Pristina, which buy back only BTC and LTC, this one takes all four coins: BTC, ETH, LTC and USDT. On the data we collected, it is the only ATM in Kosovo where a like USDT can be sold straight for euro cash.
Convenience has a price. Coin ATM Radar lists exCoins machines at about 4.8% on purchases and 5.2% on sales, plus a fixed fee. The calculator below shows what that means for your amount and which ID tier applies.
- BTCBitcoinBTC
- ETHEthereumETH
- USDTTetherUSDT
- LTCLitecoinLTC
The 4.8% markup is the figure reported for exCoins ATMs on Coin ATM Radar; always check the ATM screen before inserting cash.
ID tiers at exCoins ATMs, per Coin ATM Radar: no verification up to €500, a phone number from €500 to €1,000, and an ID document above €1,000. Before you feed in any cash, have your ready on your phone; the machine scans the QR code and sends the coins there.
Two offices in town: De Rada and Rruga Tirana

Not on CBK listCoinPrime Prizren
CBK licenceBoth offices are in town, away from the ATM, and suit different customers. exCoins on De Rada street opens 09:00–18:00, handles six coins including XRP and TRX, and its website converter shows a 2% commission. exCoins is not on the CBK list of 15 October 2026.
CoinPrime on Rruga Tirana opens 10:00–18:00 and is the only Prizren office run by an operator licensed by the CBK (Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo). It handles BTC, ETH and LTC, requires on every amount and takes no more than €1,000 in cash per 24 hours. Larger sales are paid by bank transfer at 1% commission. CoinPrime does not publish its office fees. Both offices are closed on Sundays.
Turning crypto into euros in Prizren
When it comes to selling, Prizren has more options than most Kosovo towns. Which one fits depends on the coin, the amount and the time of day.
| Where | Coins | Limits | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| HIB Petrol 2 ATM | BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT | No checks to €500; ID above €1,000 | Nights, Sundays, small sums |
| exCoins, De Rada | BTC, ETH, USDT, XRP, TRX, LTC | No cash above €1,000 (CBK rule) | XRP or TRX, in daytime |
| CoinPrime, Rruga Tirana | BTC, ETH, LTC | €1,000 cash per 24h; above that, bank at 1% | Larger sums with a licensed operator |
| Online platform + bank | Almost any coin | Per platform; euros arrive by SWIFT | Over €1,000, when you are not in a hurry |
The CBK rule applies here as everywhere: above €1,000, or several linked sales within 24 hours that add up to more, payment must go to a bank account. Our full cost comparison, including withdrawal limits at Kosovo cash machines, is on selling crypto for cash in Kosovo.
August in Prizren: the diaspora, Dokufest and the queues
Prizren is a different town in summer. Families working in Germany and Switzerland come home on holiday, the Dokufest documentary film festival fills the old town in August, and visitors stroll from the Stone Bridge up to the fortress. For the crypto market, that means more people holding coins on a European platform who want euros in hand during their stay.
If you are visiting from abroad, three things matter. First, the offices close at 18:00 and all day Sunday, so the ATM is your only option after dinner. Second, the machine needs crypto in a wallet you control, not just a balance on an exchange, and a transfer needs network confirmations before it arrives. Third, if the real goal is getting money to family, crypto is rarely cheaper than Wise or Revolut from Germany; we run the World Bank numbers in sending money to Kosovo with crypto.
For tourists: we found no shop or restaurant in Prizren that accepts crypto as payment in a way we could confirm. Since 1 February 2024 the euro has been the only currency allowed for cash payments in Kosovo, so plan your trip in euros.
Across Vërmica: what Albania has to offer
The Vërmica–Morinë crossing links Prizren with Kukës and the motorway to Tirana. Albania has its own law on digital assets (Law 66/2020) and a licensing regime run by its financial supervisor, the AMF, since 2022, but Coin ATM Radar shows no confirmed crypto ATM anywhere in the country. For buyers from Kukës or from across the border, the HIB Petrol 2 machine in Prizren is the nearest confirmed one.
Bear in mind that CBK rules apply to every transaction in Kosovo, whatever your citizenship: ID from €1,000 and no cash above that amount. For the legal picture, read is crypto legal in Kosovo.
Suharekë and Gjakova: when Prizren is the nearest option
Suharekë, with 45,749 residents, has neither an ATM nor a crypto office. Since the HIB Petrol 2 machine sits on the road linking it to Prizren, it is the closest point for Suharekë residents. Suharekë and the other towns without points are covered on our smaller towns page.
Gjakova has an exCoins office on Skënderbeu street but no ATM; a machine announced in 2024 could not be confirmed. Anyone in Gjakova who needs to sell at night or on a Sunday must choose between Prizren and Peja, and only the Prizren machine has a confirmed sell function. See crypto in Gjakova and crypto in Peja.
